Looting the Seas is a
project by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists
looking at some of the forces rapidly depleting the oceans. Illegal
fishing is a thriving global black market that fuels organized crime and
the disappearance of the seas' most valuable species. The UN estimates
that 85 percent of the world’s fish stocks are at the very limit of — or
beyond — sustainable levels. The three parts in the series are:
- Looting the Seas I: The Black Market in Bluefin Tuna
- Looting the Seas II: Spain's $8 Billion Fish
- Looting the Seas III: The last fish — Plunder in the South Pacific
